"Diamond Harbour", Kolkata - Not so far yet not so near

Staying in Kolkata, got an extended weekend holiday, but no clue where to go ?

Away from the cacophony of the day to day life and juggling to and fro with work,  a two hours drive from the heart of the city, Diamond Harbor is a small township near the eastern banks of Hooghly, where the river meets the Bay of Bengal.

This place is like a picnic spot for the weekenders in the winters as summer is too hot in West Bengal.

People mostly visit Raichak and Fort Raddisson for stay. But we got another option at Punyalaxmi resort. This resort will charm you with the garden, its proximity to the river and the silence of the area.

Once inside the resort you will not even feel the presence of the town just at the back of it.
Opposite the Diamond Harbour P.S is a tiny lane through which you can reach this place.

We went there to spend a resting weekend and it was worth.

The rates of the resort starts from Rs 999.00 and you get a nice cosy room for yourself having the view of the river, the garden and the pool.

We had to book the suite as all other rooms were sold out.

You can also just go and have package lunch over there if you don't want to stay for the night,

Away from the rush of the city , this small yet beautiful place will charm your senses. Better visited during the winters, the park and swimming pool inside the resort is a cool place to hangout with family and friends.

Sitting silently by the river and looking far away at the lights of the harbour brightening brings peace to the soul.

In the evening the lights of the small harbor reflects on the silently flowing waters of the Hooghly. The serenity of nature, the sun setting slowly in the horizon, lone boats passing through, the color of the darkening sky  reflecting on the waters and the merging of the space with the land is ethereal.

A small nest away from the city , recommended as a breather from the day to day life of the city.
